The area north of Steamboat provides 146 miles of beautiful groomed trails to explore on your snowmobile. Traveling through the Routt National Forest, Steamboat Lake Park and along County Road 129, you will experience the magnificent views, thousands of acres of play areas filled with champagne powder, and the rugged peaks for climbing. The area boasts 300 inches of snowfall a year.
The area offers three primary trailheads to choose from: The Steamboat Lake State Park marina, the plowed area at the end of the Seedhouse Road and the Columbine Quarry located at the intersection of CR 129 and USFS Road 550.
Also located in Steamboat is the 10,839-foot Hahns Peak. The peak is known for its perfectly shaped cone that receives 325 inches of annual snowfall a year. Hahns Peak is a center of great snowmobiling with miles of trails that will not interfere with cross-country skiers. Buffalo Pass is another area known for extraordinary snowmobiling. This pass travels approximately 10,250 feet through fresh snow and spectacular scenery. However, this area is not patrolled.
